How does it work?

Picture
The Cinch Chix are all about working smarter, not harder. Simply place your bale of choice in the desired feeding spot, toss the net up and over the bale, pull down the sides and tighten your "simple to use" cinch strap at the bottom. That's it!
Who knew feeding could be so easy?

How can the horse eat out of the cinch net?

Slow and steady: the horse is very curious about this new toy containing food. As you can see in the photo, the net allows the hay to be picked at much like a horse would graze in the wild - little by little, all day. While doing this the horse will at times adjust the net by pushing it from place to place. So now you have a thinking horse, and a thinking horse is a happy horse!
Have you ever heard the saying "the devil dreams on a idle horse?" Well we would have to agree! When fed in the traditional way - a couple flakes in the morning, a couple flakes at night - horses tend to pick up some very destructive habits due to their idle time. By using the cinch net, feeding time is extended, regardless of bale size. This is what we refer to as "slow feeding;" when fed slower, the horse benefits in many ways.

Facts are good
"Using a slow-feed hay net can result in important health benefits to your horse" - Horse & Rider Magazine Oct 2010

Picture
Studies have shown that the waste hay from the average round bale is about 57%. When using the net with quality hay we have seen virtually no waste. To prove this, we have been working with our local University of Minnesota to conduct a comparative study on what percentage of waste hay the cinch net saves (We now have results, Go to our Cinch talk page.) We believe the cinch net is the last type of hay "slow" feeder you will want to use. In our own studies with the cinch net, we had 10 horses going through two 5x5 round bales every seven days. When we added the cinch net, we went from 7 days to 10 days. You can imagine our excitement in knowing we actually have a product that not only has many health benefits, but also extends the days in your hay.
